History

University Law College, initially established as Government Law College (GLC) in 1948 by the Government of Mysore, became part a of Bangalore University’s Faculty of Law in 1964, adopting its current name. It played a pioneering role in legal education by introducing the 5-year BA. LL. B integrated degree program in 1986-87, under the leadership of Prof. V. B. Coutinho, aiming for higher standards in legal education. Situated initially in the Central College Campus of Bangalore University, close to important legal institutions like VidhanSoudha& High Court of Karnataka, it relocated to a modern facility within the Jnana Bharathi campus in 2006-07.

With a forward-looking approach, ULC introduced the B.A.LL. B (Hons) program in 2019-20, reflecting its commitment to keeping pace with contemporary legal education trends globally. Recognized for its academic excellence, research endeavors, and community outreach, ULC regularly hosts national and international seminars, conferences, moot courts, legal aid programs, and cultural events.

FACULTY OF LAW

University Law College (ULC) at Bangalore University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs with a highly qualified faculty and efficient administrative staff. The college enriches its academic expertise by hosting visiting lecturers and professors, primarily legal practitioners.

PERMANENT FACULTY
	Professor Dr. N. Dasharath Principal, University Law College and Department of Studies in Law.	He has specialization in Labour law and has put in 30 years of teaching experience.  He has published more than Seventy  articles/ reviews in different law journals. He has successfully guided 9 Research scholars. He was awarded the National Award as  Best Employee from the Ministry of Social  Justice and Empowerment, Government of India
	Senior Professor Dr. V. Sudesh Dean, Faculty of Law, University Law College and Department of Studies in Law.	He has overall teaching and research experience of more than 28 years.His areas of interest are Labour laws, Intellectual Property Law and Jurisprudence. He has successfully guided 11 Ph.D Scholars. He has served as the officiating Vice-Chancellor of  Bangalore University, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Chairman and Principal, University Law College and Department of Studies in Law, Bangalore University, Bengaluru.
	Senior Professor Dr Suresh V. Nadagoudar Professor on lien, University Law College and Department of Studies in Law.	He has overall teaching and research experience of more than 28 years. His areas of interest are Labour laws, Intellectual Property Law and Jurisprudence. He has successfully guided 11 Ph.D Scholars. He has served as Registrar (Evaluation), Bangalore University and also served as the First Registrar and Vice Chancellor (Acting) of  Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University, Gadag.
	Professor Dr. N. Sathish Gowda Chairman, University Law College and Department of Studies in Law.	He has put in 19 years of teaching experience at both UG and PG levels.  He has successfully guided 7  Ph.D. research scholars. He  Received Young Scientist Social Science Award for the best paper presentation in 1st  International Congress Conference held at Regent International College, Bangkok, Thailand.
	Professor Dr. Jyothi Vishwanath University Law College and Department of Studies in Law.	She has an LL.M in Mercantile Laws and has put in 25 years of teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. She is a recipient of 7 Gold Medals for securing ranks in B.A. and 1st Rank with distinction in LL.B. and LL.M degrees from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga.
	Professor Dr. Chandrakanthi. L University Law College and Department of Studies in Law.	She has LL.M Degree in Constitutional Law and Business and Trade Law from Mysore University and has been teaching Law Subjects for P.G and U.G for 22 years. Her areas of specialization are Environmental Law, Corporate Law and ADR, Torts and Consumer Law .
